Helge Harding is a conductor and clarinettist. He teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts, at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin, at the Jazz Institute Berlin, at the Carl Philip Emanuel Bach Music High School Berlin, at master classes, most recently in China at the Hangzhou Academy of Music, and privately.
Helge Harding is committed to providing transparent and high quality music education programmes to support both the general public and top musicians. For this reason, Helge Harding has always been committed to teaching, even during his early international artistic successes as a conductor, soloist, principal clarinettist in orchestras and new music ensembles, and as a director of youth and amateur orchestras.
Helge Harding has been involved in cultural and social politics for over 10 years to advocate for better working conditions, especially for freelance musicians. For his entrepreneurial concept of the 'Berlin Living Orchestra' he was awarded the title of 'Culture and Creativity Pilot' by the German government.
Helge Harding studied at the music academies of Detmold, Frankfurt am Main and Amsterdam. Exchanges and collaborations with Yehudi Menuhin, Pierre Boulez, Simon Rattle, Marek Janowski, Giora Feidman, Eddie Daniels, Sabine Meyer and Karl Leister have been formative in his development.
